SASSA grant is for the people holding South African Citizens who have participated in World war or Korean war. The age requirement for this grant is 60 years. Eligibility Criteria of SASSA War Veteran Grant:
To qualify for a War veteran SASSA grant, individuals must meet the following criteria:

War Veteran SASSA Grant Means test:
SASSA means test is a technique that SASSA uses to evaluate the income, assets and other financial aspects of the applicant who had applied for a grant basis on War Veteran. Its aim is to make sure that the grant should be paid only to the deserving people. The means test consists of two thresholds.
Assets Threshold:
- For a single person, the total worth of assets should not exceed R1,372,800.
- For a married person, including their spouse, the combined worth of assets should not exceed R2,745,600.
Income Threshold:
- The annual income of a single person should not exceed R96,840.
- The combined annual income of a married person and their spouse should not exceed R193,680.

How much is the War Veteran SASSA Grant?
If a person is eligible for the war veteran grant then he will get an amount of R2 110 per month. However this amount is expected to increase in later months.

Processing time of SASSA grant based on war veterans:
SASSA usually takes three months to process your application. If your application is accepted then the applicant will start receiving the amount from the date he applied for the grant. And in case if the application for the grant is rejected then you will receive a notice/letter from SASSA that will clarify the reason for the rejection of your grant’s application.
What if my SASSA war veteran grant application is rejected?
If your application for a grant is declined and you think that the decision is incorrect, you have the option to request SASSA to review your application once more. Should this request be rejected again, and you still disagree with SASSA’s decision, you have the right to appeal to the Ministry of Social Development at the National Department of Social Development. It’s essential to initiate the appeal process within 90 days of receiving the notification.
The Ministry of Social Development will carefully review your appeal to reach a decision. If they find merit in your case, they will overturn SASSA’s decision, enabling you to resume receiving your grant payments. Conversely, if your appeal is unsuccessful, you will receive a written explanation for the decision.
Suspension Of SASSA Grant For War Veteran:
The SASSA War Veteran Grant may be temporarily declined for various reasons:
- Residence in Government-Owned Station: If you have been residing in or admitted to a government-owned station.
- Extended Overseas Visit: If you travelled abroad for a duration exceeding 90 days.
- Improved Financial Situation: If your financial circumstances have significantly improved, rendering you ineligible for the grant.
- Non-Collection of Grant: If you have failed to collect the grant for more than three consecutive months, your SASSA War Veteran Grant will be discontinued.

Once your SASSA grant will be approved the SASSA will start paying you the giant from the day you applied. SASSA doesn’t pay an amount to the grantees on a fixed date every month so you need to check the date for gant regularly by visiting the official website of SASSA SRD.
When your application for SASSA grant will be approved you will be given two choices for payment. You can either choose a bank account or cash payment.
If you choose the bank account then your payment will be deposited in your account on a designated date. And if you opt for a cash payment then you can withdraw your amount from the retail outlets like Usave, checkers and spars etc.
